My experience as a teacher started when I was in high school, giving private lessons to local middle school and elementary school students. Ive continued giving private lessons as well as masterclasses, sectional work, and marching band coaching throughout college. Teaching is as much of a calling for me as is playing the trumpet. We get a lot done and touch on many topics in every lesson, but the most important thing is that students will feel like 'work is play' and they are learning by doing. Smiles and laughter are helpful tools for musicians. To me there is nothing is more satisfying than seeing my students develop a passion for music! While playing music itself is quite enjoyable, it is absolutely essential that each student progresses at their own pace. Before jumping into playing, I like to test the skills of my students to see where they are in their musical development.
