Autumn Emily D

Instruments: Violin, Viola

I hold four degrees in violin performance and have been teaching for nineteen years. I have worked with students ages 2-adult. I have trained students to be professional violinists and worked with countless beginners and amateurs. I enjoy working with all ages and levels. I teach a mixture of Traditional and Suzuki Methods. I introduce note reading at the beginning of lessons even with young children. I often work from several books at a time focusing on pieces, scales and etudes. Read More

Kalia B

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Violin

I use probably more of the Faber series than any other, but also use Bastien and Alfred piano books. I sometimes recommend all four,(Lesson, Theory, Tecnique, Performance) but often just use two - Lesson and Theory. Most kids can handle 3 songs a week, but sometimes only 2. I move methodically through the books, making sure they understand thoroughly an idea before moving too quickly ahead. I draw from many resources for recital songs -- especially if they are showing an interest in classical music. Read More

Melissa E

Instruments: Violin, Viola

It depends! Everyone is different and Melissa’s goal is to tailor each student’s lesson depending on what work’s for the student, learning retention, and most important, having passion. When it comes to strings instruments such as the violin and viola, the common teaching methods would be Essential Elements book and/or Suzuki books. Everyone is different therefore not everyone is going to be taught the same way or follow the same pace. Read More

Richard S

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Violin, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

I always explore different methods that might fit the age and personality of the student but for keyboard lessons I have found success with the Alfred Piano Method. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. Beyond that I have a large library of supplementary music to expand the students interest with new styles and composers.I'm very flexible with the method books and after I get to know the student I can select a method that would work the best for instruction. Doris R

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice, Violin, Cello, Viola, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Bass Guitar, Harmonica, Ukulele, Recorder, Piccolo, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Conga, Latin Percussion, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I believe that a strong foundation is essential for steady progress and confident performance. A comprehensive approach is my preference. Therefore, when I teach piano, I prefer Faber and Faber Piano Adventures paired with A Dozen a Day for added technique. Since many students in this school district are in band or orchestra, I usually use Essential Elements for Strings, Brass, and Woodwinds. I spend a reasonable amount of time preparing my students for our recitals and many of them join in the group songs, which have included "What a Wonderful World", "Happy", and currently "The Theme From Midnight Cowboy". Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
