I can teach many instruments that I have taught myself how to play well and efficiently. I play in many bands and I am always learning new styles of music. My best instruments are Piano, Bass, Drums, Ukulele, Guitar, Percussion, Harmonica, Recorder, Tin Whistle, Mandolin and also Trumpet. My secondary instruments are everything else. I can fool around on Violin, Cello, Banjo and Trombone as an amateur. I could blow into a Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, French Horn and probably anything else I can get my hands on, but I would not feel comfortable teaching them yet because I don't have enough time in the world to learn them and figure out how to play them myself and get as good as I can on those instruments. I love to teach. I love sharing the knowledge and experience that I've accumulated over the years as a Musician. For me the best part is opening my students eyes to the possibilities music has to offer. Its very rewarding to see them grow and not only achieve the goals we set together but to become continually curious about music and life. I love to encourage my students yet I also am not afraid to let them know when they're veered off of the path. Read More

I like to set goals for my students. I generally work out of lessons books, solo repertoire, and whatever else the student brings in. If the students have music from classes in school, I will also assist them with that. I try to keep the lesson light, and enjoyable! I consider myself very personable with students and I am very comfortable teaching a variety of students. Parents are welcome to sit in if they choose. Read More

I let the student guide me from there. If they want to play jazz, we will learn jazz standards, how to read chord charts, and improvisation. If they want to perform classical solo or orchestral literature, we will focus on developing their classical trumpet sound and increasing the artistry and technical demands of the repertoire they perform. More advanced students typically already have an idea of what they want to do and I let them guide me and teach based on the goals they want to accomplish. Read More

I believe that no two students are alike; for each of my students, I create an individual, custom-tailored plan and routine to help solve the most challenging issues in their playing. I advise my students to keep a practice log and write down everything they accomplish and challenges they notice in a practice session. What went well? What didn't go so well? Writing things down provides us with a timeline of progression to see what works and what doesn’t. Read More
