It is important for me to know my students in order to create a lesson plan and learning experience that works. I ask lots and lots of questions and work hard to challenge my students without any pressure. I hope that they will be excited for their lessons and eager to learn. I typically write out a list of things we are working on and request that my students set a timer and practice 10 minutes at a time on 2 to 4 different days during the week. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I started teaching voice because I love to sing, and I enjoy sharing my love of music with others. An important part of my early professional experience has been teaching performing arts enrichment classes (voice, acting, creative writing, spoken word, visual arts, etc.). In addition to private and group instruction for students of all ages and various genres, my work as an educator also includes: · designing courses and conducting workshops and panel discussions in the fields of arts, education, and business/ entrepreneurship · training teachers in writing and implementing academic and recreational arts lesson plans · managing, directing, and producing educational, cultural, and arts performances and special events My voice students (at all levels of development) engage in learning about: Vocal Anatomy and Voice Health, Respiration and Breath Control, Sound Waves and Vibrational Energy, Rhythm, Pitch, Tone, Melody, Harmony, Timing/Phrasing, Posture and Presence, History and Culture, and more! It is very. important in lessons to acknowledge the student's accomplishments so that they are aware of where they are growing. Read More

The remaining time is spent working on repertoire that the student and myself choose together. For Piano I work out of the Faber Piano Adventure Books. These can easily be purchased on amazon after the first lesson. For continual progress, it's imperative that the student has a piano or keyboard at home to practice on. Read More

I feel as though every student should progress at their own pace and music especially should not be something that stresses the student out (especially when it is art). I have had many teachers that were very old-fashioned and harsh in their ways and this can give the student a distaste for music. Read More
