I fell in love with my cello at age 12, when my mother brought it home as a birthday present. I competed in the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) where I received 3 A+ grades, for my performance of Haydn's cello concerto #1 in D minor, Bach Suite #3, Boccherini cello concerto and Vivaldi sonata #3. My first teacher, Alexander Goldfield once said, "Music is just scales and chords". If nothing else, I practice my Cossman exercises at least 1-2 hours per days for agility and intonation. Read More

As well as teaching college level guitar and music courses, I have taught an average of 70 students a week for 15 years during the 1990s and early 2000s. Read More

I prefer to solidify technique with studies so that in the repertoire, students are comfortable enough with the technical demands to develop their individual musical voices. In other words, I use like to use exercises to develop a new technique, etudes/studies to push students out of their comfort zone, while keeping repertoire assignments within their comfort zone to allow them to exercise their creativity in different areas. I welcome student input in my assignments and balance fun in lessons with the delayed gratification inherent in musical preparation depending on the individual student’s goals. Read More

I then try to bring my approach into the picture. I have a very engaging teaching style. I feel that getting constant feedback from the student is very important. The last thing I want is a confused student! Read More

For beginning students I always make lessons into a game and interest them with funny stories and songs. Once a student has progressed and is genuinly interested in playing cello, I start to study with a more serious repertoir as a easy classical pieces and some popular kid's songs. When student will be ready I will prepare him/her for first recital in family circle or at the school presentation. Read More
