I give my students exercises to help them become accustomed to the different motions and fingerings associated with their instruments. I am very goal oriented in teaching. I use a similar methodology as learning a language. I prefer the Hal Leonard books for beginning students. Some of the major aspects I like to focus on are three areas being 1) Rudiments, Scales, and Chords, 2) Educational books, 3) favorite song repertoire. For students younger than 15, I recommend only 30 minutes unless students are more experienced and very engaged in their instrument. Students older than 16 can take more advantage of a 45 minute or even an hour lesson. Read More
