Instruments: Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin
I began teaching guitar when I was 15 years old. At first it was like many part-time in high school, but it quickly became a passion for me. I grew to love watching a student discover the things they could create as they learned to use the instrument. It is like watching them find an entirely new world. In order to encourage this, I have found that the lessons have to be fun and the musical preferences of the student have to be taken into account. Read More

I always approach teaching on an individual basis. I find out what the student loves about music, and what made him or her want to learn in the first place. We set realistic goals for pace and have fun. I often mix traditional work with fun work. For example, alongside conventional ways to learn melody and harmony, I'll tie those lessons into specific songs or pieces of music that the student likes, to show the relevance of the material and the importance it has, at the same time keeping the student interested. Instruments: Guitar
I teach fundamentals of music theory, classical guitar technique, and repertoire, sight reading, and overall musicianship, as well Rock and Metal. The environment you will be learning in is open and non-threatening, so that you are not afraid to make mistakes. I enjoy teaching and sharing my experience with others. With my study, experience and continual practice, I look to deliver a strong fundamental knowledge to each student in a fashion that best suits their individual needs. Read More

Although my methods vary a bit depending on the instrument, the general plan is the same. For beginner students of instruments I focus first on fundamentals, such as finger placement, note names, what makes up chords so forth (again with a high emphasis on practice). I will gladly print out hard copies of chord sheets, note names, songs with chord markers if desired, or can display these digitally! For beginner students of voice, I start by teaching proper breathing, different parts of the voice, warm ups, and assessing the students vocal range. Read More

At this stage, consistency and clarity are especially important, so I emphasize good practice habits and gradual skill-building to ensure steady progress without overwhelming the student. As children advance and demonstrate a solid grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to expand beyond method books and introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their current skill level. This transition is an important milestone, as it allows students to apply what they have learned in a more musical and expressive context. Read More
