I have been teaching students for 7 years, since I was a college student at Columbia University. When I began taking on students, I soon learned that I loved teaching music as much I loved performing it. I have 23 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings. I enjoy working with students of all ages. Music is an international language that has brought me many wonderful life experiences. In addition to classroom and private instruction, I compose my own music. I perform regularly at folk venues and festivals. My classical music training and my love for Broadway have influenced my writing. My musician friends call my genre 'theatrical folk.' I enjoy sharing my knowledge and love of music with my students. I was employed by FSU to teach while I was in my Master's, and I had a rotating studio of 10-14 college age musicians who I met with on a weekly basis. Read More

Conveying large amounts of information, even of the highest quality, is of little value if the student is not motivated to use what he or she has learned to create music. Read More

I have always customized my curriculum for my students. I have charts that I create, with sections for notes that sometimes get used during the lesson. Depending on the student's skill level, these may be basic chord charts, scales, or custom progressions that we go over in the lessons. I also take the time to record these progressions at my home studio as a reference for home practice. Read More
