My methodology is based mostly on understanding the practice and applying the theory to it, to know where what you do comes from. but above all enjoy and fall in love with your instrument because that is what pushes you to continue learning. The music is not explained or shown in words, so it is unnecessary to write as much as they demand, people just want to play and they just need someone to teach them how to do it... If a student comes in knowing absolutely nothing about music, I will start with teaching basic music theory. Extensive knowledge of music theory is not essential, but a basic grasp will make the learning process much smoother. From there - for stringed instruments - we'll move onto hand conditioning. Most of all the rescources I use for my students can be found for free online. The most important things for any classical guitarist are: Mauro Giuliani’s right hand arpeggio studies, Matteo Carcassi’s Etudes, Fernando Sor’s etudes among exercises I’ve learned and created personally. Other great rescources are Scott Tennant’s Book “Pumping Nylon” and Pepe Romero’s book “La Guitarra”, which are about $20 a book. Read More

My teaching style is relaxed but consistent. The goal for students is first to enjoy music, and then progress at their own pace. I am interested in knowing what student is looking to accomplish in music and introduce ways and exercises that will help him get where he wants to get. Music is free flowing and so should be methods of teaching. Practice is key to success in this discipline, and it takes commitment and patience to become one with your instrument. Read More
