My goal is to create life-long learners, so you may always find time for practice and a place to perform great music! I provide private music instruction each week teaching lessons on a variety of instruments and have even served as a substitute teacher, as well as performing with various bands and ensembles over the years. After over7+ years of teaching and over 20+ years of musical expereince, I have combined the use of numerous books into my own method. Much of what I have learned also comes from personal expereince. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I started on a cornet bequeathed to me by a friend of my father's, with a beginner's book, playing in my closet at 8 years old. I was given a trombone by a friend of my sister's at 11 years old, and subsequently became a trombonist. I had one initial lesson, with a saxophonist, who taught me to play the notes F and G. I became a professional trombonist at the age of 19 and didn't go to college for music until I was 27, where I immersed myself in study with professionals for 4 years. Read More

I am a versatile music teacher. As an undergraduate at Ithaca College, I learned each band and orchestra instrument from the college instructor. For example, I learned to play the oboe from the oboe professor. We had to make our own reeds and use them to play our final exam.
