My teaching style consists of compassion, patience and developing discipline for ones instrument little by little. Nothing is pushed, but my philosophy is "bit by bit." My teaching style begins with my assessment of each student's abilities, physical, mental, and emotional. By this method I am able to design a realistic program for each student. Patience and encouragement go hand in hand, acknowledging their accomplishments all along the way. Once some fundamentals are established, I add pieces that the student has an interest in learning. In initially meeting a student, I ask many questions in order to gage what has inspired the student to study drums, and what particular genres of music and/or artists have brought them to the point of lesson inquiry. My lessons are fun and interactive! A light-hearted approach to learning an instrument is very important. Especially considering the difficulty a stringed instrument can bring; it's very easy to become discouraged when met with a difficult instrument, in a lousy-not-fun lesson, with a grumpy instructor.
