I have a strong connection to music education. I was significantly affected by music teachers at a young age and benefited greatly from strong music education programs. I have taught lessons to many students over the past 9 years and have a great appreciation for the art of teaching. Variety is important to me, and I will introduce as many different styles and genres as possible. Introducing people to musical instruments is very important to me, for the educational and communicative skills inherent in performing music can translate to any facet of life. Read More

The way I teach is about showing the student "the dance" of drums. The exercises and rudiments they practice are the movements in a dance. For example, with Punk drums the movements need to be mastered and played fast so the student will have to practice to get the movements up to speed instead of focusing on the beat. This is what I believe to be one of the most useful methods for cultivating a creative mindset and becoming a proficient player. Despite the technical lingo, these practices are generally entertaining for everyone because it helps them to view music in a completely different way and learn it quickly. Read More

I am new to the teaching world, as I have just started professionally about a year ago. I gave piano and percussion lessons in-home for beginners. I started substitute teaching piano, voice, and percussion during my last term of college. I then started teaching on my own in-home and online. I like to instill music theory practices and technique for that specific instrument that I am teaching. In my experience, especially with the younger set, mixing the more modern pieces with classical techniques really seems to press things forward. Read More
