I have established myself as a versatile artist whose readiness to break new boundaries and explore different styles has made me an exciting voice on the international music scene. I have appeared with the Vancouver, Edmonton, Madrid, and Göttingen symphony orchestras, Russian National Orchestra, Armenian Philharmonic, and Thailand Philharmonic. Solo, chamber music recitals, and premières of my compositions have taken me from all the major cities in Canada and the US to European concert halls and China and Japan. My discography includes the acclaimed Transcendental Études and piano concertos of Franz Liszt, and Robert Schumann’s three Sonatas for Violin and Piano (with Ara Malikian). I've recorded songs by Pauline Viardot- Garcia, which brought the me international accolades and a 2006 JUNO Award for Classical Album of the Year. With the Amici Chamber Ensemble, of which I am Co-Artistic Director, I have recorded Armenian chamber music and Levant, which won the JUNO for Best Classical Recording in 2013.
I have applied my worldwide performance and teaching experience to create a unique approach to piano lessons. I am now accepting students of all ages and levels in the Santa Barbara, California area, for private piano instruction. My lessons also encompass styles other than classical; including jazz, flamenco and tango. In order to be considered as a piano student please contact me to discuss your or your child's skill level and goal.
I will design a custom program designed for each particular student's goals and skill level. Placing the emphasis on creativity and interpretation, students learn how to express themselves through various styles of music. They are also introduced to improvisation and composition, giving the students a life-long understanding and appreciation of music!
