I am a devoted and motivated instructor with a passion for music. Working with students is one of my favorite way to share my love for music. I have graduated from the Korea National University of Arts for Bachelor of Arts and Master, Artist Diploma in Piano Performance, and holding Artist Diploma from Peabody Conservatory. Currently, I am studying Doctoral Musical Arts at Penn State University. In the last few years, I have performed in Spain, Austria, South Korea, Germany, and the United States.
I grew up in a musical family, and giving feedback and commenting to each other from a young age was already natural to me. I started a formal teaching career as my college year. Since then, I have been enjoying teaching and working with students for about ten years. My responsibility as a teacher is not only to share the knowledge of music but also to encourage students to enjoy the music fully. I am a caring and devoted instructor, and I would love to have not only the short term lesson basis but also long term lessons. My former and current students include elementary school students to Master degree students.
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Frances Clarks, Bartok -Microkosmos, Hanon, Czerny, Brukmuller. Frances Clarks method is the most effective one since its method is based on the relationship between notes - interval- when learning the notes. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire, such as Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, etc. For adult, I would choose repertoire depends on students' interest and their goals in playing the music so that keep the lessons fun!
There is nothing more exciting than seeing students' progress. And the essential virtue of the teacher, in my opinion, is being patient to encouraging individuals. Knowing that every student is different- so is their learning process-, and carefully attend to each student's needs is my primary teaching strategies. My teaching philosophy is to bond with students, build trust, and make an enjoyable atmosphere. Music is a sophisticated art, and with the right approach, learning music gives students beyond mere studying keyboard but exploring the students themselves.
