I was pretty much self taught as a musician. Learned from watching others. Studied music theory while in college.
I've been involved with music for years. I started playing piano at 2 years old. Before moving to guitar when I was 9. I first learned classical guitar before moving onto acoustic and then electric. I taught myself how to a range and transcribe music. When I was 18 , I moved to New York where I worked as a independent studio musician and teacher. My style of Music ranges from metal to classical. My education in music came from many of my influences from Paganini to Bach, Vivaldi to Clapton, Hendrix to Oliva.
I first started teaching guitar when I was 16. I always look at anyway to make learning a fun experience . I have taught people even with disabilities how to play guitar. My motto is " The only thing stopping you is you". I teach many styles of music from classical to Broadway. Jazz standards to metal. I always for beginners start with the basics strumming, chords, essential scales before moving onto songs , soloing and techniques such as alternate picking, legatos, string skipping and a variety of other technit
For beginners I start with the basics. Simple chords, strumming patterns, proper holding techniques, major and minor scales. As the student evolves I introduce simple songs in the style a student is wishing to learn. Teaching them how scales in songs are used. Everything from how to do a proper bend to vibrato to whammy bar techniques. I also write out lessons in which the student can study and practice in between lessons. Teaching songs I break each song into sections for easier learning. It makes it for a more fun experience and easier for the student to understand.
My teaching style is unique and custom tailored to each student. I feel honestly that when you tailor a lesson to each student to fit their needs they are more apt to want to learn and to grow. I love seeing the faces of my students as they learn a new riff or a new soloing technique. That look of I did it. It's honestly the whole reason I enjoy teaching. I always tell my students to be passionate about what they do. My love for teaching comes from my passion for playing. Teaching each student I set goals that realistic and doable only if the student is willing to work for it.
