I have worked for the Miami Dade and Broward School system as a Music Educator for 13 year. I have been numerous concert ensembles, choirs and any perform as a solo act. I current looking for new student in the Tallahassee, FL area.
I started teaching lesson in the piano right after my high school years in 1993. While attending the Miami Dade College I taught at the West Kendall Music Center for 3 years. I continued teaching in the public schools for 13+ years. I encourage my student to gain a passion for their instrument. I enjoy when students make progress. I now have students, who have continued to college with that passion. I also love to challenge my students to grow. For my younger students I offer rewards. My older student simply just love to play.
I feel the best approach is to used what the student may learn the best. My personal favorite studies are made by Alfred's Piano Methods. I like to used their lesson, theory, and technique books. Hanon and Czerny exercises are also important for developing sound and technique. I require my student to practice for a hour our more a day. In addition to the studies I like to offer a recital one to two times a year. This give the students a opportunity to show off their newly acquired skills in front of an audience.
My approach is simply anyone can learn music. Some learn at a faster pace than others. I move with you skills that your have. But at the same time, I will challenge you to grow to new levels in your playing. My goal is for you to gain confidence in your playing ability to play for friends, family, or even a live audience, while have a little fun. I want my student to gains skills that they will have for a life time. Maybe one day they will pass it on to others. These skills open doors to travel, college, and many other connections.
