I believe every person has their own unique voice. No one will ever sound exactly like you and you will never sound exactly like any one else. In my voice studio we work on finding your own voice, and then nurture that voice with good solid vocal technique, based on freedom of breath, and freedom from tension and strain. Having solid technique, you can sing any genre of music you desire. We will spend time every lesson on vocal exercises, and then on repertoire. I have my Masters degree in Vocal Performance, and enjoyed a career performing in Opera and Musical Theatre. Now my greatest joy is in helping singers find their own tru voice.
I have been teaching since I graduated from Graduate School. My students then consisted mainly of fellow performers - actors and dancers, mostly. Now I teach a lot of younger students, from the age of 12 up, as well as adults.
Every lesson with every student is different. Every singer's needs change on a daily basis, and vocal exercises change to reflect what the student needs at that moment.
I believe that the voice studio is a NO JUDGMENT ZONE. You have to make bad sounds to get to the good ones. True progress only happens when you allow yourself the luxury of letting go. AND PRACTICING!!!!!
