I studied music at Jack Marshall's Piano Studio in Memphis, TN and graduated from MSU in Piano Performance.
Shirley has an extensive performance record with various churches in the valley as well as back east. She accompanied the Marshallette Trio on Doyle Blackwood's weekly TV show on channel 3 for several years and also accompanied singers on TBN. She has done studio work with various artists. She has been into many different genres of music and have played in many different kinds of settings as accompanist, and soloist for weddings, lounge music, classical, church etc.
Teaching experience: Shirley has taught lessons for the Institute of Music Education in Scottsdale and Milano's in Mesa. She is willing to teach children at a minimum age of 5 years old, teens, and adults of all ages. In addition, to learning songs, she initiates exercises to improve her student’s technical skills and chord / scale knowledge which will give each student a solid foundation for growth potential. She can also help with performance suggestions, songwriting, music theory, sight-reading etc. Her goal, as your teacher, is to enable you to be able to progress and succeed in whatever direction you choose to take your musical adventure whether that is classical, rock, gospel, jazz etc.

Shirley tries to fit the student to the method. Every method doesn't work for every one. Age and experience and ability all play important factors into the method that is used for you or your child personally.
A lesson starts with warm-up and theory assignments being graded. Then proceeds to Songs and review of new material ending on any questions that may be asked. A through understanding and reading skills are mandatory to progress.
