I am a motivated instructor who wants to bring the joy of music to my students. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. I have had some fantastic journeys so far as a musician performing all over the world since when I was young, and performing at Boston Symphony Hall was definitely the most memorable experience. I believe that I will advance my career even further as a musician, and I hope my passion and energy toward music will inspire my students to grow together.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days. I have provided in-home private piano and violin lessons to students (age 5-22), where I was able to work with students or students' parents and develop the curriculum according to students’ progress and level. I want my students to enjoy what they learn, and I encourage daily practice and correct practicing methods to achieve maximum progress. The performing technique is critical for beginners to lay down the concrete foundation while performing beautiful tunes. I also encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals or composing their original compositions. Let's focus and learn!
For beginning students, I typically start with Hanon exercises to improve manual strength and dexterity. At the same time, these exercises can help students to learn to sightread, and I will give an additional lecture on musical notation with written material for reference at no charge if necessary. After one or two weeks, I usually assign simple Bach pieces or appropriate solo repertoires to experience music right under their fingertips.
I will keep a log documenting every lesson and what student needs to work on for the following week, and I will share this log with my student or student's parents. I will adjust the teaching plan according to students' progress every week to make sure the practicing materials and lessons are engaging and fun.
I hope all my students will become well-known instrumentalists in the future, but I set realistic weekly goals for my students. I design the curriculum according to the student's level and progress, and I highly encourage daily practice even though it could be a challenge. Acknowledging the progress and accomplishments while pointing out the places to improve on will help and motivate students to learn more. I will be able to tailor my instruction to students' pace and needs after the first two weeks of the private lesson. The students or parents can reach out to me at any time via email for any questions, and I encourage students to take videos and share the progress with me throughout the week. I will be able to provide feedback within 8 hours.
