Smiley has studied piano since the age of 5 and has been fortunate to study with the Carl Wheeler the musician who wrote and played for Tony Toni tone, as well as Beyonce and high profile headliners. Smiley has played for celebrity singers including Carlos Santana, comedian Tommy Davidson, as well as John Witherspoon. He a Degree in music from the University of Berklee, and has taught piano and voice since 2005. he enjoys working with people and uses his patience and perceptiveness to communicate music to others. Smiley is a church musician, jazz and popular music, Gospel, Christian and the like musician as well as a teacher.
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced I taught piano for years looking for a method that was comprehensive, engaging, creative and practical, I make learning easy, even to the point where you don't have to do too much sight reading and be able to learn a favorite song you here on the radio within 30 mins. Your musical goals are my number one concern by providing you with a solid foundation in which to grow in any direction of your choosing. As a trained pianist of 20 years, I love teaching my students the language of music. Whether you want to learn basics, expand your technique, or learn how to play your favorite pop songs, I'm ready to take your self-expression to the next level! I can't wait to start this journey with you. In your first few lessons, you'll learn basic music theory as well as piano etiquette, and even a few songs! As we go on, we will also incorporate ear training and more complex pieces, selected based on your personal goals. I can't wait to start this journey with you!
In piano lessons, I'll provide highly valuable instruction and guidance on the key aspects of playing the piano: interpreting a piece of music accurately and with artistic expressiveness, improving technical ability, learning methods for efficient fingering and effective pedaling technique, developing greater control over emphasis, dynamics, and timing, and even strategies for physically improving and safely caring for your hands, fingers, and forearms. If you are a beginner and aren't sure what all those things mean or if they would apply to you, that's fine too. I also offer introductory instruction on how to read music and get started playing the piano I also offer lessons in a variety of musical topics: composition, songwriting, improvisation, ear training, music theory, arranging, and music production (technology) and voice.
