I am a patient and motivated instructor with an enourmous passion for music. In 2009, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors of Arts in Flute Performance. My performance experience worldwide enriches my musicianship, as well as performing in Harvard University Theather and in the presence of Queen of Jordan Lisa Naheeb.
My teaching experience started during my college years. I began teaching at a music school and privately in my own studio for 3 years. Motivating students with my teaching artist skills, is one of my key point to increase the passion for music in the student. In addition, consistent practicing schedule is another aspect that I insistently apply to all my students. Depending on the student's age I can either choose pieces (songs) that fits their taste, as well as introduction to body mapping. Often, I encourage students to participate in competitions and recitals, so that they can learn more and ultimately can feel good about their accomplishments.
For beginning students who are children, I often use the Andrew Scott Method for flute. When the student is considerably advance I will use the Rubank Book for flute begginers. Once the student is at a comfortable level, I will proceed to introduce him to Body Mapping. For adults, I will prefer to first of all know more about their learning abilities, other experiences with music/sports. Than, I will find out more what they are looking to learn and work from there.
For me it is really important to see students learning and advancing in music. Understanding every student needs and abilities allows me to set up clear and objective goals for every lesson. Keeping motivating the students through certifying their progress helps them to keep learning. It is also important for me that each student has fun, otherwise I do not feel like I am doing my job!
Sofia is creative with our children's piano lessons. She clearly wants to make their experience positive and custom tuned to their level and styles, while keeping with the traditional basics too.
