Overview:
I have 15 years of classical, pop and musical theatre vocal training. Since age 8 I took every opportunity possible to develop my own vocal skills. I have countless performance experience, including some professional performance experience. I have a bachelors degree in Theatre Arts Studies from Brigham Young University and a Berklee Music Performance program certificate. I’ve always been a goal oriented person so as a teacher I set goals with my students. This allows students to stay motivated and allows them to better measure their success. I want each of my students to have confidence in her abilities, so I do my best to push past their insecurities so they can grow anyways they didn’t think possible.
EXPERIENCE
I have a bachelors degree in Theatre Arts Studies from Brigham Young University and a Berklee Music Performance program certificate. I have 5 years of private teaching experience and have also taught vocal workshops and directed musical theater plays. I think it’s so important that students enjoy what they are doing so they have a desire to practice and work hard, so singing doesn’t become a chore. Music is such a powerful tool of expression, I love allowing my students to unlock that power as an artist. Ive always been passionate about music and I do my best to help my students meet their individual goals.
METHODS USED
Every emotional experience of heartbreak or even happiness music and performing has allowed me to interpret. I love helping my students more effectively use and understand singing as an expressive and technical skill. I begin with a strong emphasis on healthy singing and allow them to visualize how sound moves. Next I I think it’s important to let them choose some of their own music to work on allowing individual expression, growth and a greater desire for learning. Overall I love helping my students understand how to use music as a tool to uplift and express.
LESSON STYLE
I love to help my students to widen their capabilities and talents within singing. I believe vocal performance has everything to do with confidence passion and diligence! I help students enjoy what they are learning and see their own progression. I also help my students understand the correct and healthy way to sing so they can reach their personal goals and sing notes they never thought possible. I think it’s so important for my students to have a confidence that they can reach their full potential and have a desire for life long learning
