I'm a professional musician and educator who has lived in Chicagoland with my wife and two boys for the last 18 years. I'm originally from Columbus, Ohio and received my BM from Capital University there. From there I was Music Director for one of Royal Caribbean's ships and then I made the move to Chicago in mid-1996. From then until now I have become one of the top/first call saxophonist/woodwind musicians in the city of Chicago and have performed all over the world with musical lumaries such as Aretha Franklin, The OJays, Brian McKnight, Diana Ross, Al Jarreau, The Temps and dozens of others!
I have been consistently teaching students since I was in high school back in the early 90's. I always love teaching people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities because it makes it more interesting for me! I have taught elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult music lessons and will have no trouble taking you where you need to go musically if you choose to take lessons with me.
I typically divide my lessons into quarters so that the first part is just scale work. The second part is scale patterns and technique. The third portion is prepared materials, and the final portion is listening. I bring an Ipod with close to 750,000 songs on it for kids to choose pieces featuring their own instruments for inspirational purposes. I find that listening can be just as informative as pressing down keys:)
I set realistic goals for each lesson so that each student will be able to progress and show improvement on a quicker level and not get frustrated with too much work.
