Hello My Name is Steven , I am a classically-trained singer with over 5 years of private teaching experience. I am extremely passionate and motivated by teaching and learning. I am currently working on my masters at Brooklyn College. I continue to seek out new and exciting musical opportunities. Though I'm classically trained, I prefer to teach Broadway, pop, and jazz. I enjoy performing with my church choir and The Nubian Conservatory. I welcome all student levels from beginner to advance and my teaching philosophy is to tailor the lessons for every student in order to help them acheive their full potential.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days as I began teaching Voice and piano to very young children. As I was earning Bachelor’s and Master's degree in music performance and Compostion. I have been dedicating most of my time to teaching .My student are encouraged by modern assignment and fun test as well as entering recitals every year .I aid my students by practicing with vocal training ,techiniques and music theory . it bring me joy to teach my students and have it reciprocated in the in their musical expereiences
I try to be as flexible as possible, many things would depend on the student's age and background. I pay a lot of attention to movement when playing the instrument, I try to do this from the lesson one with an absolute beginner.For most beginning students who are children , I typically start with Alfred Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course Lesson Book A and voice I typically start with Adventures in singing. With adults, I try to find out what are their preferences in music, what motivated them to start learning the instrument and what kind of music would motivate them to learn and practice most.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing than of my students develop a passion for music! There forests important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments help fuel a student desire to progress and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs
