An eager and confident teacher always excited to work together with new people. Educated in music and sound production with a great interest in the role of sound in multimedia experiences. To broaden his scope of sound experience he has ventured into theatrical study and designed interactive music. Feels most at home within an orchestra. Conducting and educating his players. Has years of experience in performance and writing music. Studied for a BA in Music. The University of Tampa ensures all undergrads receive the “bacheloriate experience”. Which entails an interdisciplinary education in all fields to encourage students to see the connections between their studies and their peers studies. A BA in Music requires the mastery of music theory, history, production, and performance; requiring mastery of an instrument and constant involvement in student ensembles such as orchestra. Of note of these participated ensembles was the Interactive Arts Ensemble. The Interactive Arts Ensemble sought to take elements of art, theatre dance, and music and ,with the use of technology, create interactive performances. Performances where sound would respond to the movements of a dancer to create a musical piece. Or a musical piece would affect lighting and pictures to create an artistic collage.
Substitute Teacher, Kelly Educational Staffing Tampa, Florida — 2015-2016 Kelly Educational Staffing is a private staffing firm that assist with the substitute program in Florida. As a substitute teacher I helped educate many students in a variety of subjects. Being a teacher means being a mentor and role model to young people. During my time as an educator I taught in several positions and roles. Everything from music, math, and the sciences in schools as diverse as Blake and North Tampa Alternative. Director of Cross Symphonica Orchestra, Omni Expo / Anime Apex Tampa, Florida — 2013-2014 Cross Symphonica Orchestra is an orchestra group dedicated to the music of video games, movies and animation. The group is made up of volunteer players. The director scouts for volunteers from the community of orchestra students and convention guest. A director must also schedule rehearsals and performances. Music director is responsible for arranging the music for the orchestra to play. The director is also conductor of the orchestra and leads in rehearsals and performances.
First lesson I start by assessing what level the student is at and what goals they have with their music and develop a lesson plan from there. I focus first on fundamentals of sound and technique to build a foundation for the student then work on scales and repertoire to get them playing music. From there it is a focus on musicality and performance. A lesson plan for example may be working on solo repertoire by breaking down the piece by focusing on different elements that make the song; the scale, they rhythm, certain patterns by measure, techniques required, etc.
I teach music by breaking down the elements of a performance to as digestible a lesson as the student feels comfortable in tackling. By setting such a pace with realistic goals I can keep students engaged and encouraged to work through material and really achieve a feeling of competency. I encourage players to learn a piece thoroughly and practice often finding that by the time they've memorized the music they can work on the finer aspects of musicality and performance that really elevates the work.
