Stuart has been part of the New York music scene for over twenty-five years. His musical experience is broad, from performing on the classical guitar at various restaurants to recording alternative rock with a major label. He is an ASCAP writer with song placements in major movies and television shows.
During the 1980’s, Stuart played with the infamous Punk legend, Dean Johnson, in Dean and the Weenies. In 1990, he joined the band known as The Rake’s Progress which recorded for Almo/Geffen Records. The Rake’s Progress was featured on Late Night with Conan O’Brian, MTV’s 120 Minutes, and Beavis and Butthead and toured through the United States, Canada and Europe. At the present time, Stuart writes music, records, and performs with Barnacle Bill and Streams of Whiskey.

Very individualized instruction. The focus of the lessons depends on the student. The goal is to use the guitar or bass as a vehicle of self expression. Bringing creativity, in the form of writing or improvising, to the lessons enriches the experience of playing any music. I believe in music as an aural language. I believe there is equal benefit in transcribing recorded music as from reading from the printed page.
