I have been teaching for over thirty years. I have enjoyed every minute of it. I feel very fortunate to have a job that really doesn't feel like work because I enjoy it so much. I have taught in many music stores over the years. I have taught group classes as well as private lessons. I have put on recitals for my students. When I teach a student I teach a little differently for every student because every student is different and everyone has a different ability. From my experience in teaching to keep a student interested you have to find what they want out of their lessons and what they want to accomplish and then I customize my lessons from there.

I have almost every beginner piano method book available. I do not go by just one piano method book page by page. I find this method very boring for the student. What I do is make a copy of each song or exercise from different books that I have that I think is better for the individual student. Each student is so different and after I get to know them I will know how to teach them so they will have fun and enjoy learning music. I always tell my students you have to learn how to crawl before you walk so true before you can play your favorite song.
