Hello, My name is Taiki. I'm a Drum instructor based in Los Angeles, I love teaching and sharing knowledge with students with full of love toward music. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor Degree in 2018. I have been performing with a lot of musicians, and also have done a lot of recording sessions while I was in my collage. I would love to share the knowledge I gained from my college and musician career. While I was in college, I learned, Drum set performance, Music Theory, Ear Training, Music Business, Music Production and Engineering, and Music Education.
EXPERIENCE
I have variety of experience in performance while I was in college and also recording session. As to teaching experience, I started teaching 5 years ago, I had been working as private instructor for almost 2 years before I go to college. I have had 5 students, ages were in the range of 11 to 21. My goal for teaching for beginner students was to always keep engaging. The most important thing for beginners is to have fun, studying music always has to start or based on joy. I had a student who have never played drums, but in the end he learned 15 songs with a short period of time with my lesson. Students from any ages and any levels are welcome in my lessons.
METHODS USED
For beginner, start with simply touching every part of Drum set, thus students can see how it sounds like, and how fun it is to simply hit the drums. After that I would start with hand technique, which is 3 basic stroke patter, and how to apply them to every part of Drum set. For Advanced beginners, I would start from getting touch with rudiments, and sight reading so that student will have well rounded skills, over all good drummer so to say. For adults, or advanced drummers, I would focus deeper on rudiments, and sight reading, on top of this, I usually add, groove of different style in order to expand their comfort zone.
LESSON STYLE
The most important thing in my lesson is to have fun. I really care if students are having fun, and I will always find a way to bring them a great joy of playing music. Another thing that's really important is to make sure that students are learning what they truly wants to learn. In the begging of lesson, I always ask a student about what they want to learn specifically. If a student has any, I will try my best to teach in the best way I can teach, if a students doesn't know what to learn, that is what I am here for, I can show students a lot of ways to enjoy music.
