BM, Metro State University of Denver, American Improvised Music
Are you ready to push forward in your playing? My teaching method focuses on the fundamental building blocks necessary to gain a true understanding of the guitar (i.e. Theory, Scales, Song Forms, Technique) while learning songs of your choosing to implement those fundamental concepts.
...OR maybe your just starting out and would like to learn a few songs and do some soloing. That's cool too!
I'm located in the Denver with students in primarily in Wheatridge / Arvada / Lakewood / & Westminister. Let's talk about what you're looking for in a teacher and what you'd like to learn and we can see if I am right for you.
~Tayler
I started teaching privately while attending university in Denver, concentrating in jazz and American improvised styles on guitar. Although while I love jazz some of my favorite music is surf, classic country, and soul (blues and rock n roll too). I have 7+ years teaching experience and for the past several years had been teaching from my home office in Wheat Ridge, although now I also teach out of the Golden Music School as well. I obtained my Bachelors in Music from Metro State University, and have continued to teach privately and gig professionally having played at many venues in Denver and across the country.
For beginners I like to start with just a few chords, something to get them going and playing and get excited. So many songs have two or three chords! By getting a few under the fingers we can start to learn songs and get dexterity and scales going a little later. Practice is something I can't stress enough. Get into the habit of practicing every day, even if its just for 20 minutes. It makes all the difference.
For more advanced students who want to learn more chord voicing, increase their speed, or improve their soloing we can dive deeper into the fundamental building blocks of the guitar (i.e. Theory, Scales, Song Forms, Technique) while learning songs of your choosing to implement those fundamental concepts.
I want you to enjoy the guitar more than anything. Every student progresses at there own pace. It's important to set realistic goals for each student and in getting to know a students ability, taste, and drive we can get where you want to be on the guitar. Acknowledging accomplishments fuels a students desire to progress, and makes students more eager to learn. By finding out what inspires the student, I can tailor our lessons to their wants and needs.
Have you hit a road block in your playing and you're ready to push forward?
