2016- Winner, Berry College Concerto Competition 2015- Winner, Rome Music Lovers Scholarship
Overview:
I am an Atlanta born trumpeter and educator. I am a recipient of the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Berry College in Rome, GA. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 9 in my elementary school band program, and I have been granted the privilege of studying with top class trumpet teachers throughout my playing career, such as Ron Turner, Chris Libby, Adam Hayes, and Charles Calloway. I am well versed in musical styles ranging from wind ensemble literature to solo repertoire to jazz standards to indie rock.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching young trumpeters since I began my undergraduate career four years ago. I have helped middle school and high school students advance in their own playing career. I love learning about how each student learns, and I've always challenged myself to plan accordingly. My students have been honored not only in their own band programs, but also in Georgia All State Band and DCI. I've had the pleasure of working with students who are all in very different places in their musical development, and I strive to meet them where they're at, and challenge them to be the best musician they can be.
METHODS USED
With beginners, I always explore the very basics with them. This means we work on breathing and embrochure formation together. Along with this, we also learn the basics of reading music. From there on out, I use Breeze Easy Trumpet Method, Arban, Clarke, Irons, Bai Lin, Caruso, and Stamp to develop fundamental technique, based on what I think each student needs. With advanced students, I focus on interpretation and musicality, and developing a more induvidual approach to the horn. Furthermore, I always emphasize the importance of listening to my students. I always recommend recordings, and listen and discuss with my students in lessons.
LESSON STYLE
I believe in a well-rounded fundamental basis that incorporates all aspects of trumpet playing. From this starting point, any and all musical goals can be accomplished with diligent, persistent, and efficient practice. Progress in trumpet playing is measured by inches, and each student is at a different place in their musical development, trying to get better. I believe in the importance of tailoring a plan to each student, exploring how they learn, and meeting them where they are in their personal musical journey.

Taylor is a very talented musician and he is a great teacher with my son. Taylor is patient and positive yet points out the places my son needs to improve. We plan to continue with the lessons with him.
