My name is Tekgoo, Musical theatre and Classical music, Film music composer and also Music director / Orchestrator for Broadway Musical Theatre. I'm also passionate instructor who loves working with any kinds of students. I graduated from New York University with a M.F.A degree in Musical Theatre Writing and performance. Writing a song, and performing, music directing in theatre industry and school, and many of famous venues such like: 54Below, Public Theatre Joe's Pub, The Players has been one of the greater experiences of my career. I'd love to share my music experiences with students and also want to teach how beautiful music is. I'm looking forward to work with you!
My teaching experience started when I was college student, as I began teaching for composition, Harmony, Counterpoint and piano, also sight-singing for students at the local church and school, and have been teaching some of the students in their home for last 2 years. One of my important goal of teaching is to teach my student that how to enjoy the music and how to tell their own story through music. Since I have been studying Musical Theatre Writing, I strongly believe that music is the most beautiful and powerful method to express our story and emotion in our life. Not only just play the piano, but I love to tell my emotion through the piano instrument, and I want to share this amazing gift with my students.
For beginning student who are especially children, I start with Hal Leonard's Children Piano book. And once student has progressed to have a skill, then I suggest some of easy solo repertoire appropriate or sometimes I made my own piece for them. For teenager and adults, I normally try to find out what they want to play and interested, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I'l love to suggest to student not just classical pieces but also I suggest great classic Musical Theatre songs.
Seeing my students develop a passion for music is so amazing experience. It's so important to me to care each of student's different own their pace. I encourage this by setting a goals for my students at each lesson. And also having a lots of conversation with student is important feature for my teaching. Because each of student have a different vision and passion about music, without understanding what they have a feeling of music, teaching will be useless. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.
He is amazing?Very good at his major and good at teaching. I enjoy having class with him every time?
