Overview:
I've been passionate about music since I was four. I've been involved in music, participating in chorus from elementary school to college. I dedicate my time to teaching the children's choir at my church and play the organ during worship service. I've been teaching privately piano and voice for almost ten years and loved every minute of it. I always like to teach songs that interests the students because that is what music learning is all about. I embrace all kinds of music from classical to pop. What's important to me is making my students happy.
EXPERIENCE
Music is a great art form to express emotion and passion for something we cannot say in words. In church, I teach the choir to express their feelings of joyfulness when praising God. Outside church, I've taught privately in piano and voice for twelve years, five with Musika. I always encourge my students to practice with patience daily for 15-20 minutes in order to successfully progress. Most importantly, they must have fun, smile and play/sing with excitement. I encourage my younger students to join chorus bad and talent shows in school, church and the community. With the adults, they appreciate my patience in helping them learn a hobby they never did when they were younger. I look foward to teaching more to people of all ages and abilities.
METHODS USED
For my younger piano students, I am a fan of the Faber and Faber piano books. The method books applies to my philosphy of teaching rhythm in syllables (ta, ti-ti, etc.) and found success with all my students in their abilty to read notes and play well. I also love their arrangements on their jazz, rock and roll, and popular series. I also try to include composition in their learning to make it fun and challenging. For voice, most love songs that they're interested in, mainly pop, broadway, and rock. I focus mainly on breath management, pitch and voice placement.
LESSON STYLE
A way a student learns is important because everyone learns at a different pace. Also, each student has different interests. Patience and being positive are the key characteristics to progress. Learning can be a frustrating journey if the teacher and student don't meet eye to eye. It is important for me to let students learn songs they want to play and tailor to their interests.
My teaching style would be a layman term type with a progressive style. I also like to use visuals because I feel students learn best when they see pictures.

Overall Tenni provides for good instruction to the kids and is firm yet supportive of their learning. She has been very flexible with last minute changes and is very responsive to calls and texts.
My only feedback is that occasionally she appears to be distracted by her phone during the lesson.
