Teaching is not just a profession for me; it's a passion that I've had the privilege to pursue through meaningful organizations like the Saturday Conservatory of Music and Through The Staff. At the Saturday Conservatory of Music in San Gabriel, I've had the incredible opportunity to share my love for music with the children of the greater Los Angeles area. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing quality music education to young minds aged 6 through 20. Our mission is to make music accessible, and we achieve this by offering low-cost small group lessons, theory classes, and ensemble experiences. As a teacher at the Saturday Conservatory of Music, I take pride in delivering rigorous instruction that goes beyond technical skills. It's about nurturing creativity, instilling self-discipline, and fostering a lifelong love for music. Seeing the growth and enthusiasm of these young musicians is truly rewarding. Through The Staff is another remarkable organization that I'm involved with. This 501(c)(3) non-profit is dedicated to connecting 2nd-12th grade students with volunteer university musicians from across the country. Our goal is to break down barriers and make music education accessible to any student who wants to learn, regardless of their geographical location or financial constraints. Through free virtual private lessons and essential music education materials, we are making musical journeys possible for students who might not otherwise have had the opportunity. It's about leveling the playing field and ensuring that every young person, no matter their circumstances, can experience the joy and enrichment that music brings. Teaching through these organizations has been an incredibly fulfilling experience for me. It allows me to give back to the community, share my knowledge and passion for music, and witness the transformative power of education in the lives of these talented students. Teaching is not just about imparting knowledge; it's about nurturing potential and inspiring the next generation of musicians.

As a music educator, my teaching methods are designed to ignite and nurture a deep passion for music in all its diverse forms. I firmly believe in the power of integrating students' personal musical interests with classical training to create a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience. My approach is rooted in customization. I understand that each student has unique tastes and musical preferences, and I use this as a foundation for their musical journey. Whether it's introducing jazz scales, weaving in a pop tune, or exploring various genres, I aim to make each lesson engaging and relatable to the individual student. One of my primary goals as a teacher is to select pieces that resonate with the student's musical preferences while simultaneously challenging and enhancing their classical skills. This approach not only keeps students motivated but also ensures they develop a broad musical vocabulary and appreciation for different styles. Additionally, my double major in psychology plays a crucial role in my teaching philosophy. I believe it's essential to support students in their classical music training in healthy and efficient ways. By understanding the psychological aspects of learning and performance, I can tailor my teaching methods to address the unique needs and challenges that each student may face. This holistic approach not only fosters musical growth but also promotes mental well-being throughout their musical journey. In essence, my teaching methods are a harmonious blend of classical training and individualized, student-centered learning.
