Overview:
I am a passionate music teacher who believes that music is truly a universal language, shared by all cultures the world over and one of the best characteristics of our humanity. I grew up singing in my family, singing in the church choir and caroling with my family at Christmas, enthusiastically sharing my musical abilities with others. I have sung under the batons of John Alexander, Dale Warland, and Bobby McFarren and premiered music by composers Phillip Glass and Eric Whitacre- All of these music experiences helped to mold me into a professional teacher and musician who cherishes her abilities and excels at sharing it with her students.
EXPERIENCE
I have over twenty years experience teaching music students of all ages. I started teaching music students in 1986 at a Jr. High/High School and prepared all choral students for both solo and ensemble festivals and large group competitions. I also prepared vocal jazz ensembles, and other larger instrumental and vocal ensembles for competition, thoroughly enjoying the sharing of their talents and pulling out the best music they had to offer. I have also taught elementary students and adults alike, sharing the joy of music whether the student is a beginner at the age of 85 or the age of 5.
METHODS USED
For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. We will then work on repetroire focusing on what the student would sing at a recital performance.   For all students I also find out what interests them and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter the ability level of the student.
LESSON STYLE
My focus is on the individual student- I evaluate the needs and goals of my students and taylor my lessons to achieve those goals. Vocally, being a professional singer, I have a firm foundation in vocal pedagogy, so I can sing vocal jazz and rock music, as well as show tunes and operatic arias without hurting my voice. MyBoth my instrumental and vocal students have fun, but work hard and learn lots! All learning styles are welcome, so even if you are a dedicated shower singer or believe you can't stay on key, lets see what we can do together!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
