Overview:
I'm a former "Talent Grant" student of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in The Netherlands. I have performed a wide variety of works ranging in style from Marin Marais to Maurizio Pisati. As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, I can be found performing in venues all over the world from the Bass Hall in Ft. Worth to Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. I specalize in contemporary music as well as 18th and 19th historical performance. My former teachers also come from diverse and international backgrounds, most of them performing with the top orchestras and conductors across the world. They include Marieke Schneemann, Kersten McCall, Vincent Cortvrint, Harrie Starreveld, Marten Root, Terri Sundberg, Jan Crisanti, LeeAnne Thompson and Christina Jennings.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught flute for 4 years to people of all ages - I have taught children, high school students, pre-college division music majors, college students and adult amateurs - students who have played in school and community orchestras, churches and for their own personal enjoyment. While I was attending the Conservatory we were also required to take several "method" classes that involved not only knowing the history of the instrument but the history of teaching the instrument as well as teaching the instrument in front of the Conservatory faculty.
METHODS USED
As a teacher I feel like a travel agent, guiding students on their own "flute journey." I have taught children, high school students, pre-college division music majors, college students and adult amateurs - students who have played in school and community orchestras, churches and for their own personal enjoyment. I use the Blocki flute method for beginners.
LESSON STYLE
I absolutely love teaching and have a strong passion for my students to succeed in whatever they want to do with the instrument. My teaching is very free, but at the same time quite strict. I can give the student all the tools they need not only to be successful with the instrument but hopefully fall in love with it, as I have.
