I have been a professional musician for my entire life. I enjoy sharing what I have learned with others, and have given private lessons throughout my career. I have found teaching to be both rewarding and educational. Seeing a student put what I can show them into practice is a wonderful feeling.
I have performed on many instruments in venues all over the world for over 30 years. This includes concerts, recitals, exclusive country clubs, corporate events. Much of this work was solo piano, or with various small groups I have put together. I have given private lessons on Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, and Guitar during this time, which, as I have said, I enjoy very much.
My initial method is assessing a student's abilities, and figuring out which approach is best for them. Every student is different, both from an ability standpoint and from their personality. I tailor my lessons for each student based on these factors. Music fundamentals are important, but so is having fun. For me, having fun is as important as learning to play.
I am a very patient and relaxed teacher. I am always willing to proceed at the student's pace, rather than the arbirary goals common to many music methods. People are individuals, and any approach to teaching should recognize this, especially in a private, one on one setting.
