I love all kinds of music and am excited to share my knowledge. As a public school music teacher and have led singing groups and strings ensembles. I enjoy working with students of all ages. I have travelled around the world singing in a variety of groups including classical, opera, gospel, pop and many other styles. I have utilized my skills, training and certification to satisfy fine arts requirements for home school graduation. I would love to help you prepare for auditions for a middle or high school of the arts, a college musicstudy program or to be the next American Idol as well as just have fun learning to be the best musician you can be!
I've been singing since I was a child. I've played in school orchestra and church praise band even before college. I've performed for the president and sung in Moscow's Red Square. My studies have focused on liturgical church music though my pentecostal church background has helped combine spirit with tradition. I currently teach music to grades K-5 in a public charter school in Duval County, Florida.
I like to use a common sense approach with a foundation in music theory to develop the whole musician. I will encourage note reading but will give harmonic context for the singer or keyboardist looking to improve versatility.
I will focus on your musical passion and help you set goals based on the musician you would like to be. I will likely use a method book for piano or strings while voice students will develop repertoire from a variety of sources. I can help you learn to sing by reading music or by rote. I will help you seek opportunities for performance to build your confidence and experience.
