B.S. Trevecca University (Communications Major)/( Music Minor)
I began my training in piano and guitar when I was 7 years old. My interest in music has led me to continue to learn other instruments. I have 7 children and have taught and continue to teach them various instruments in my home. This has allowed us to perform musically as a family in various parts of the country. My oldest daughter has gone on to acquire a degree in vocal performance.
I have been teaching since 1982. I have taught privately in 3 different states. Currently I teach in Pennsylvania and Maryland. I have taught hundreds of students over the years. All students are invited to participate in our recital two times per year. Recital participation is not required.
I use several different method books for teaching. I try to use the method that best matches the goals of the student or the parents of the student. I currently use: Alfred's, Bastien, Piano Adventures and Progressive methods primarily.
My goal is to develop a friendly and encouraging relationship with each student in an effort to motivate them to do their very best. It takes discipline to learn to play an instrument but the journey to consistent improvement should be enjoyable.
I am experienced in a wide range of musical styles and I try to help students pursue their individual musical interests. Lessons in music theory, technique, sight reading and musical performance are taught to each student. I have learned from many great teachers in grade school, high school and college and would love to share my education and experience with you.
