I am a fun, exuberant and encouraging guitar teacher who loves teaching and sharing the joy of music. I will be graduating with my Master in Music degree from the University of Denver in the fall of 2013, where I also received my Bachelors of Music in 2009. As a teacher of beginning students and aspiring professionals, I believe that everyone can learn how to play the guitar well!
I have been teaching guitar to people of all ages and abilities for the past 7 years and believe that NO ONE is untalented and EVERYONE can learn. I believe the key to enjoying the guitar and expressing yourself on the guitar is to make the technique of playing the guitar easy and fluent. In my studio I emphasize making the technique easy in repertoire and exercises appropriate for the level of the student.
I use many different methods since I am of the opinion that all methods have their strengths and their weaknesses. For children I typically use the Suzuki method and suplement with exercises and outside repertoire to compensate for the weaknesses in the Suzuki method. I also use the Royal Conservatory method and try to teach its repertoire when the student is at an advance- beginner or intermediate level.
I believe that a teachers job is to pass on the joy and power of music. In order to do that however the technical execution of music must be easy. Through repertoire and exercises I emphasize a sound technical and mental approach so that playing the guitar is easy, fun, and a form of self expression.
