Berklee College of Music Electronic Production and Design Major
I’m a dedicated and passionate creative with years of experience to share with my students; I’m empathetic and good at teaching you the way you learn. I grew up playing blues and jazz in venues and clubs around the Bay Area as a teen and later graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Electronic Production and Design, where I had the opportunity to dive into the world of production, synthesis and electronics while simultaneously studying guitar as my principle instrument.
I have over 16 years of playing experience and 10 years teaching both privately and in schools and programs, so I possess a perfect combination of musical and educational experience to best teach you. I have taught privately since studying at Berklee, offering tailored lessons to my students based on their goals, taste in music and unique personality. I'm comfortable teaching all ages, having had extensive experience with both K-12 and teaching adults, I know how to scale lessons back and scaffold for younger students and how to expand and challenge older, more experienced students.
I have 16+ years of playing experience growing up gigging around the Bay Area to studying guitar as my principle instrument at Berklee in Boston. I specialize in improvisation and songwriting and can equip you with the tools to unlock your flow state and create the music you feel called towards in any style. My lessons are hands-on, interactive and finely adapted to your skill level. You will be given weekly exercises and pieces to practice in order to facilitate the learning process. --- Whether it's online or in person, I will offer thoughtful and engaging activities, lessons, and conversations to help you grasp what you need to learn in order to reach your personal and unique creative goals. Get in touch!
I discuss with you what you want to achieve; playing your favorite songs, writing your own, improvising, playing with others, etc. and then we build a plan to develop the supporting skills to accomplish this goal. I focus on imparting clear instruction and advice, paying close attention to what is or isn't working for you to help you refine and improve your playing. Together we'll ensure you understand the fretboard up and down, filling in any gaps in knowledge and connecting all of the dots until you feel confident moving around it.
Im a somewhat(!) older student who just wants to take casual but for real lessons that are not on youtube. Found Travis and vibed w/him immediately -- just the right amount of drive & especially patience in getting me to learn different chords and even how to play a favorite song or 3! Im almost there but like how far ive come -- its all about practice, Practice, PRACTICE. I think ive found my guitar coach here thank u Travis.
I met Travis while we were both studying at Berklee College of Music. I was taking an elective jazz guitar course and struggling to keep up with the material. Luckily Travis was offering guitar lessons at the time and I was able to work with him. Each session was super fun and engaging and not only was I able to improve in class, but can now play guitar to accompany my voice pretty proficiently! Also, Travis is not only a talented guitarist, but an unbelievable electronic artist. I was lucky enough to work with him to more deeply understand Ableton. He’s a literal master and showed me so many cool functions and shortcuts in Ableton, I use it all the time for beat making and the occasional live show! Thanks Travis!
Travis has a great understanding of music and can relay that knowledge to musicians of all skill levels. He is patient, kind, encouraging, and warm to his students.
