Hello everyone! My name is Tye. Im a singer-songwriter/ Musician. I'm originally from New Jersey, I lived in a few other states. I've been a lover of music since as far back as I can remember. I was a kindergarten teacher after graduating from college. I have always been a person who loves to learn....but in return I love teaching just as much! As I got more serious with music I started writing and performing. As my love grew I put more and more time into my craft. I stared touring and playing bigger shows and bigger festivals but I always had a love for teaching.
My experience with learning was fun. Since I was learning multiple instruments it was fun to tie everything together. I could say the best part while learning was understanding theory...that part of my learning opened up many doors for me musically. I started to understand why certain notes could and couldn't be played, why and how to use different scales. Those things are the same things I try to reveal to the students when the time is right. We all have the power to teach and the knowledge to teach a certain subject...I'm just happy my subject is music.
I like to start with the basics. Its important to let the student gain confidence in their instrument. So I start with very simple task that would be easy to do while I'm present so if they have any questions I can answer. I also do everything in three's...if we are working on the C scale and we get it correct I like to do it three time straight for memory. Taking notes is also important..Its nice to have note to reference while practicing. After the student is comfortable with the basics then we can venture off into some musical styles they would like to learn.
I'm here to help the student. We all were students at one point and I remember how I felt in the learning stages. I'm just trying to help the student understand their instrument and assist while bringing confidence to venture the possibilities they can have with that instrument. My teaching style is a fun and simple one. I always say that practice is the best teacher but as an instructor in here to help with the journey. As a previous school teacher I understand that kids are natural learners and they start in life learning through play. No matter how old the student making the journey fun is a must!
