Bachelor Degree: NYU Steinhardt
My name is Ursula. In 2017 I earned my Bachelor’s in Music Business at NYU Steinhardt, where I also studied Vocal Performance in the studio of Paul Speiser. I am a recording artist and live performer as a solo artist and with my group MVORE. I have professionally been a jingle writer, backup singer, solo singer, a cappella coach, and arranger. I was musically trained at NYU Steinhardt, where I learned how to sing by utilizing our natural resonance, to keep the voice healthy and give us longevity.
I have over 15 years of singing and performing experience. I teach beginner piano/keyboard, and all progress levels for voice lessons. I arrange a cappella music and love to coach & direct a cappella groups and vocal ensembles/rock bands. I was musically trained at NYU Steinhardt, where I learned how to sing by utilizing our natural resonance, to keep the voice healthy & give us longevity. I was Assistant Director of the NYU Mixtapes, our competitive a cappella group that took first place of the ICCA Northeast Quarterfinals in 2016 and 2 awards for Outstanding Arrangement and Choreography.
I like to branch out students’ knowledge of musical genres and get them listening to new stuff. Typically though, I begin lessons with encouraging the student to work on a song they love and enjoy that inspires them to sing/play! I also have repertoire to suggest for different voice types and skill levels. I never want students to feel discouraged or give up, so I make sure feedback is constructive. I really have fun in my lessons and my students and I tend to joke around quite a bit. The goal is to have fun and the learning comes with that, and most importantly CONFIDENCE!
As a teacher I tailor lessons to my students. I find that some students are motivated by learning & challenge, and others are energized by fun elements. I pay attention to the needs of my students and make sure they feel proud of their accomplishments and progress. I use techniques and tricks to help singers not only learn how to use their instrument to their highest potential, but to feel comfortable with their strengths and insecurities. I think the best thing about me as a teacher is that every student I work with comes out of their shell and immediately feels more confident after a lesson with me. Because I always, always, will hype you up! I have worked with students from age 5 to age 65. I'd love to hear you sing, and work with you to meet your goals.
