Master Degree: Bienen School of Music, Bachelor Degree: National University of the Arts
I am an experienced and passionate voice instructor and operatic singer. I am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge and putting all my creativity to work in order to achieve my student's personal goals. I think everyone can learn how to sing, improve and develop their own skills with the right information and motivation. I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina where I received my Bachelor degree of Music specialized in Voice in the National University of Arts. Years later I decided to further my studies and I got my Master of Music in Voice and Opera Performance at Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University. I am based in Evanston, Illinois ever since then. I've been fortunate enough to be able to travel the world singing from Bulgaria, Sicily, New York to Chicago and I had the chance to coach with the best professionals in the vocal field from United States, Canada, Germany, Italy and the UK. I always felt teaching in my DNA and felt the need to take the extra mile of preparation in order to give my best to my students. I look forward to meeting you and developing your inner vocal superpowers!
I have 10+ years of experience teaching. I have taught students from 7 to 80+ years old. I've always been passionate about passing on information and developing confidence in the students. I have taught both in larger groups of people in choirs as well as individual lessons in my studio. My goal is to empower the student to have the tools to practice alone and develop further on their skills at any given moment of their vocal journey. I will give guidance on how to practice and develop a critical ear to learn from different interpreters and music styles.
My teaching method will vary according to the student age and preferred music style. I will work invariably though with all students in building a solid vocal technique based on singing with the air flow and always promoting a healthy tone quality. For opera or classical vocal style I will work based in the italian school of singing paired with a strong influence of my mentor W. Stephen Smith's method, author of "The Naked Voice, a wholistic approach to singing". I will provide for both musical theater and opera singers accompaniments from "Appcompanist" that will allow us to customize tempo and key. With young children I will work with specific repertoire according to their age with some excerpts from "The reader's digest Children's Songbook" and "The Usborne Children's Songbook". I will always be open to work with their own song choices.
My teaching style is basically giving personalized voice lessons to each student according to their goals and musical interests. I will customize each lesson according to this common ground. I usually will spend 50% of the lesson in vocal technique and the other 50% applying the vocal technique to the repertoire the student is working on. Sometimes this will vary according to the specific needs of the student. Their might be for example a deadline to prepare for an audition, or to perform in a recording, so we might warm up the voice in that case and go directly to working on the repertoire. If it's a child we will base our class in building healthy ways of singing and promoting the joy of making music based on their favorite songs.
