Hello potential piano protégé ! ...Being a piano protégé as a child myself, I have been teaching piano, organ and flute for over 30 years since and I currently have students that range from children to adults. Included in your piano study is reading music, ear training, finger exercises, classical music, popular music and the students favorite songs. Lessons are usually 30 or 45 minutes long. I am a keyboard and composition major at Stony Brook University and play many musical styles like pop, standards, classical, jazz and rock 'n roll. From 4th grade to High School graduation, I also recieved NYSSMA awards and scholarships as a flutist. From age 16 to presently I have been a Church organist and choir director. Recently I have been awarded the "Best of 2015" music teacher from Thumbtack. I'd be happy to have a half hour consultation with no obligation. The lessons can be in your home using your own piano or in my piano studio in Copiague .
I have enjoyed teaching piano, organ, and flute for over 30 years. My students have done very well in NYSSMA, Yamaha Electone organ competitions, recitals and orchestra performances. I have been performing in concerts in theaters, schools and stage since age 9. For the past 16 years I have been recording piano. organ. synthesizer and flute tracks in a recording studio. Since High school I have been composing music and I encourage my students to do the same. Students are also encouraged to perform in my recitals every 6 months , and with orchestras and bands in their schools .
For beginning students I typically start with Hannon and my own finger exercises. I ask the the student to draw notes on a staff so they can get familiar with reading and composing music. All students from beginner to advanced, are given warm up exercises and recommended pieces to play . After 30 years of teaching piano, organ and flute ,I have written my own lesson books series. Each lesson program is custom fit to the students style and playing level. The piano pieces and exercises that I recommend are by Hannon, Czerny, Bach , Beethoven. Chopin , Handel , Mozart and all the well known composers. The student can also request a current song to play in which I will transcribe the music for them .
Each student has their own learning pace and choice of music and I enjoy customizing each lesson for every student. It's fun to watch the student play the music and songs that they like and especially the songs that they always wanted to play after working on the more difficult pieces. When the student can read music it opens up a world of musical possibilities. I like to explain why the music is composed the way it is . My students are given awards for performing at my piano recitals which are every 6 months on a grand piano stage.
Veronica is extremely passionate about music. I played for 8 years when I was younger and stopped when my family moved to the states. Recently we acquired a piano for my daughter and I because I wanted to get back to my passion. Veronica helped me get back on the road to playing well.
Really good with working with my 5 year old
I have to say she is absolutely an amazing teacher. I get very excited for each class.
My daughter like her and have neen learning alot in a short time. Nu
My daughter has been taking piano lessons through her school district program for the last two years. She had learned a lot in that class but I noticed that she needed advanced classes at this point. After reviewing several websites I decided to enroll my daughter for the trial at MUSIKA. We got Mrs. Veronica B., and I am more than happy we got her as my daughter's teacher. Mrs. Veronica B. was very professional and very knowledgeable at the trial day. She was able to assess my daughter skill's level, and then she was able to give suggestions about how to improve those skills. My daughter has taken 5 classes with Mrs. Barker, and I can see she enjoys each class and she's improved a lot since day one. I can picture my daughter playing her favorites songs on the piano very soon!!! :-)
Veronica is very friendly and great to work with. As an adult student, she is happy to work at my learning pace, quickly going through things I master, but taking the time to work with me on things I find more difficult.
My son loves her, and she's so attentive to him. He actually gets excited on lesson day.
