AA, Florida Gulf Coasts Bower School of Music, Vocal Music Performance
I am an ever-changing through-composed song. I use music to home school my daughter and often I use my talent to teach my students through example. I make up vocalizes to warm up to and sing rhythmic patterns for my students to build off of. I graduated from Florida Gulf coast's Bower school of music in 2016 and performed with the Naples Opera house for five years as their soprano one section leader. I have had the pleasure of recording both a choir and solo CD and also performed with the Southwest Florida Symphonic Choral. I enjoy sharing my love of music with the world through my performances as well as through the students I share my skills with.
I began teaching music at a daycare when I was twenty years old (I am currently 24). I taught private piano and guitar lessons on a weekly basis. My youngest student at the time was a year and a half and my oldest student was twelve years old. I learned very quickly that one of the most important things is to inspire a love of music in each student because if you do not enjoy what you are doing you will never want to practice and if you don't want to practice there can be no improvement since forced practice is nothing more than another chore. From there I went on to teach private lessons in a studio called Educators music there i began teaching older students now I have taught all ages up to seventy five years old. All of my students regardless of age are encouraged to audition for competitions perform in recitals and create their own compositions and arrangements. I love hearing the different ideas my students bring to the table.
I start each student off with the basics once they master the basics of both music theory and performance (this includes concurring any stage fright they may have) then I will allow them to chose their own repertoire and I generally switch back and forth so that every other week is the repertoire of their choosing and the following week is continued progress and visitation on the theoretical and technical aspects. I do generally hold two recitals a year that all of my students are highly encouraged to participate in. Although I have never taught online before so it will take some ingenuity on my part to set up recitals.
I start every single one of my lessons the same way, by talking to my student. I ask them questions to gauge where they are at musically both with their performance and theoretical skills. I also generally spend the first few lessons trying out different teaching techniques to see which ones will be the most effective for that specific student. I use a combination of aural, visual, kinesthetic and interactive memorization techniques. I do require that all my students learn how to read music for the instrument of their choice and understand rhythmic patterns as well as note durations and basic dynamics.
