I am a dynamic music instructor who enjoys motivating others to find the best version of themselves. Likewise, I seek the perfect balance between work and dedication that allows the student to feel that each lesson is a new opportunity to grow and develop both as an artist and as a human being. I earned a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, a Master Degree in Flute Performance from the Peabody Conservatory, as well as a Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Conservatory as well. Also, I have had the opportunity to play in various countries including London, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, US and Canada.
Personally, I considered that teaching and transmitting knowledge are some of the tools that artists use as a means of expression. For this reason I have developed a tremendous interest in teaching, but at the same time an immense curiosity that allows me to provide the best solutions to the questions that students may have. As a teacher, I have had the opportunity to work in various educational institutions internationally, both in private and public institutions. Likewise, I have had the opportunity to teach private lessons to multiple students throughout my career, which has allowed me to learn and adapt to various educational models in order to create an educational environment where the student feels capable of become the best version of themselves both in the artistic field and in the human field. Equally important, I consider constant motivation to be one of the most fundamental tools in my educational arsenal, which is why being able to prepare students for various competitions, auditions and festivals is extremely important because through these students can be exposed to various training models that directly benefit their training as artists.
Each student, regardless of their musical level, will have a different way of thinking, absorbing knowledge, interpreting constructive criticism and comments during their lessons, that is why I mold the study program based on the needs and desires of each student. As an educator it is important to recognize that flexibility is one of the most important tools in the educational field. Flexibility implies that in a special situation you are able to make changes to the lesson plan or activities at the precise moment in which they occur. Adapting to a single teaching system would be perfect if we were all the same, but since we are not, it is important to change and be able to adapt to any educational situation or scenario that may arise. If one of the students does not understand a concept, you cannot continue without finding a better explanation so that the student fully understands the concept or technique explained. After all, the basic task of a good educator is to clear all the doubts that any student may have.
My teaching style is based on an open system, which allows the student to express their ideas and concerns about the topics covered in each lesson, in order to build the educational strategy that can best benefit the student. As an professor, the educational development of each student will always be a priority, but as a musician I recognize that there are activities that can facilitate this work, such as collaborations between different students to perform chamber music, collaborations between the student and the teacher to play musical duos during lessons, among other activities that keep the student interested and curious at all times. For this reasons, I consider that the inclusion of different dynamics between student and educator facilitates understanding and a good educational relationship, creating a bond of mutual respect between both parties.
