Overview:
I am a passionate educator and performer from the greater Boston area.  I love to see my students succeed and achieve their musical goals.  My students have gone on to the college level at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and University of New Hampshire.  At the undergraduate level, I played with the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Symphony Orchestra for three years.  I have had two full solo recitals at UNH, and I have had the opportunity to be recorded on the Wind Symphony CD: The Music of Daniel Bukvitch.  Upon graduating with two degrees I moved to New York City. Between undergraduate and graduate schooling I honed my teaching craft. I taught lessons to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. I also taught public school for a non-profit organization called Education Through Music in the Bronx. At the graduate level, I play with the New Music Ensemble, Robert Dick Large Flute Ensemble, various chamber groups, and orchestra. I also continue to perform in New York City with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching in high school and then decided to pursue degrees in performance and music education. At UNH I taught lessons part time for four years.  I always put students needs and schedules first and met them either in my studio or at their home.  I encourage all of my students to practice at home using techniques that are effective.  I engage my students each lesson, ensuring they are constantly improving as well as enjoying their musical experience.  It is my duty as an educator to pass my love of music onto my pupils.  My students are of all ages and skill levels.  I encourage them to enter competitions and recitals, train their ears, learn about music history, and have musical intentions whenever they play.  I will help my students to achieve any level of playing.
METHODS USED
In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials to cater to the students needs.  For young beginners, I recommend the KJOS Standard of Excellence book.
LESSON STYLE
I love to see students grasp concepts.  It is extremely rewarding to see students understand a concept and be able to explain how neat it is to a parent or friend.  When I get a new student, I get to know exactly what their goals are.  We set long term goals, and we make progress by setting manageable short term goals every week.  I inspire the student to reach their goals by providing tools to help, and custom lesson plans that are fun and engaging. My lessons also teach grit. Grit is important for any career path your student will ultimately achieve. Students learn to be self sufficient and depend on their practicing. Practicing an instrument independently develops patience and intrinsic motivation.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
