I'm a highly passionate music teacher who loves with working with students off all different ages. At 15 years old I had the privilege to study with world class concert pianist the summer of 2016 at an Intensive program. Being mentored by alumni of Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, and Curtis Institute, allowed me to really stay focused on my musical studies and inspired me in the best way possible. From ages 12-18 I have auditioned and got accepted to play at Carnegie Hall in NYC several times. After High School, I started my studies at Berklee College of Music which was the best experience of my life. I've learned so much about music culture, improvisation, and expression in all genres of music. In 2020, I became serious about composing and songwriting.
I have over 6 years of experience of private music lessons and have taught children anywhere from 4- 17. At age 15, I started my own freelancing private piano teacher business. It started small and locally, but I fell in love with teaching others and inspiring others with my passion of music. Ever since graduating Berklee College of Music in 2022, I knew teaching is what I know and love. I love watching a student develop a passion for music. I have taught dozens of beginners, intermediate, and advanced players.
For beginner students, I love the Faber primer or Alfred Beginner. Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. For Intermediate players, I love the Dozen a Day collection, Hanon, and Alfred books. For teenagers and adults I really want to know specifically the type of music they love and want to play whether it be classical, jazz, pop, R&B, etc. The more the student learns, the more freedom they have to decide what they want to play and express themselves.
It is such a joy to see students progress in lessons, especially younger students. My former piano teacher of 10 years inspired me so much and was the most amazing and professional piano instructor in my area. She really lived by the reward system. Anytime, I would finish a goal or objective for the day, whether it be scales, or finishing a pieces, she would reward us with stickers or candy or anything to motivate us in love. I encourage praise reports for many students, even adults. Students want to know they are doing well. Compliments go a long way.
