Music making and teaching has been my passion since I was young. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education. As a child, I participated in choir for 8 years and was in the University of Michigan's University Choir and Orpheus Singers. I began taking private voice lessons at a late age (17 years old) and became a professional musician, so I know that it is possible to be successful even when starting later in life! I have worked with many populations of all ages, and am currently a choir director in the Downriver, Michigan area. I hope to share the gift of music with my students and support them in any way possible.
I received my Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education in 2020, but have been performing since I was 11 years old. I am now a choir director in the Downriver area. I have experience with all populations and ages, allowing me to share the gift of music with anyone and everyone! I taught elementary school for a full year and now work with middle school aged students. While this is my first experience working one-on-one with students, I am teaching over 100 students each day in my choir program to be the best musicians they can be!
Methods utilized are rooted in finding natural and healthy ways to produce a vocal sound. This stretches to all ages, as voices can and will change throughout one's lifetimes for a number of reasons. By beginning with gentle exercises and warm-ups, we can establish the student's vocal abilities and range, allowing me to create a curriculum around each individual student that ensures that will be creating music in a healthy way. Music performed is also up for consideration by the student, as I want them to sing music that is challenging for them but also music that they can't help but love.
I believe in student-driven goal setting, so my students and I set a goal for each lesson. This allows them to push themselves but staying comfortable while doing so. Students will learn at their own pace while being supported and encouraged to push themselves outside of their comfort zones. My belief system is rooted in celebrating any and all progress and small victories. With a supportive teacher, a student can do anything! Above all, creating a passion for music making and doing so in a healthy way is the ultimate goal of my teaching.
