Overview:
I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Performing in many different environments from singing the National Anthem for dignitaries to Musical Theater from the age of 15. I have lived all over the world and being the daughter of a Diplomat has given me wonderful opportunities to perform in many different cultures. I do speak Spanish very well, but prefer to teach in English as far as the instruction part, but can work with songs in Spanish. It is very important to me to share my experience in performing, meaning, its not just about your voice, it is also about the health of your voice and your performance with your voice. I believe in the whole package, Mind, Body and Soul, which creates a perfect environment to take your beautiful voice and share it with the world. Age does not matter! What matters is your determination to want to learn, and in learning you can reach the stars.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience has been ongoing in the last 10 years. Mostly, people have heard me sing or attended one of my performances and from that moment on mostly the parents have approached me to become a vocal for their children or themselves. If a student is not having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students will be encouraged to compose their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn and step outside of the box. I believe in helping in co-writing as well, it helps to understand and break down the elements of a song.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, it would be about really listening to notes, begin to emulate the sound of a note, in keeping it simple, with learning breathing techniques to protect the vocal cords and understanding the process of Diaphragmatic Breathing. For adults, it would be about finding their voice, breathing techniques as well, and performance ideas. I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun.
LESSON STYLE
I am a unique teacher, I believe in allowing the student to create their idea of what a vocal coach looks and sounds like, yet only the student can put their effort into making each lesson a success! I can motivate the student into putting forth that effort. Choosing a song, style and performance based on where their comfort level is, working with that, and yet challenging them along the way to be open to trying new ideas.
