2010 - released my first solo album "After Tonight"
I was born in Ukraine in 1977. At the age of 18 I was introduced to one of the"jazz guitar greats" who taught me theory and improvisation. Those lessons lit a fire inside me that has only grown stronger with time.I founded the band, Shykina, in 1997 and toured Europe for the next 6 years, releasing 3 albums. Since moving to North Carolina in 2004, I have shared the stage with Bobby Hinton, Aaron Mills ( Cameo ), Robert Sledge ( Ben Folds Five ) Robb Ladd ( Don Henley ) and others. In 2010 I released my first solo album, After Tonight. Here is what a world famous producer Cliff Cultreri says about me: " Vlad is an absolute sweetheart of human being and a superb and very emotional player who puts all his heart into his music.I think he would be a great asset as a teacher as he is such likeable individual and he lives to play, learn and share/teach the guitar. My teaching experience dates back to Ukraine, as I began teaching private lessons part time 11 years ago. Since moving to North Carolina I've been teaching in different schools as well as private lessons. I still teach a student who has been with me for 8 years ! My goal is to help students to find their own path in the musical journey. Once you find it you will enjoy practicing, listening, playing and performing the music for the rest of your life !
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Guitar Method as well as learning their favorite songs. For adults, I find out what the students are interested in, and guide my instruction accordinly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter they are beginners, songwriters, blues,jazz, classical, pop, funk, rock, fusion lovers or advanced players.
There is no better reward than seeing my students develop a passion for music! My goal in lessons is primarily to equip students to know how to practice and have fun at the same time. Because that is the key for success ! The level of achivement in anything is a reflection of how well we were able to focus on it ! Because the only thing that is holding you back is the way you're thinking.
