Hi my name is Andres. I have been playing guitar for 20 years and teaching for 10 years. My passion for guitar started at the age of 15, learning basic chords on my acoustic guitar. At the age of 18 started playing in my first band HUMANO we were a thrash metal band, the technical requirements to play this genre took me to start my own journey getting lessons for the first time. My teacher at the time was one of the best in my home country. He changed my life, in three months with him I learned more than in my first three years playing, I started to play more difficult stuff and from that point on my level just kept increasing. I mainly teach blues, rock and heavy metal guitar. My method is simple, engaging and fun. I love teaching and I love my instrument, with my help I hope you can learn to love guitar as much as I do. I am looking forward to meet you and start this beautiful musical journey.
My teaching experience started by chance, a friend of mine asked me for lessons which I gave for free. I would never think teaching was such a fun and rewarding experience. Ten years later I still teach and I am very passionate about it. I have teach ages from 12 to 30 and I realized that the teaching approach has to be customized a little depending on each student. My students are going to learn the techniques that will take them to the next level. They will learn to become familiar with scales and improvisation.
I first focus on the guitar level the student is at. From then on I can make a customized lesson for each student covering basic concepts such as tablature reading, understanding of the fret board, open cords, power chords, right and left hand positioning, picking techniques, and the minor pentatonic scale. I teach mostly blues, rock and heavy metal but I can teach other genres as well if you are into acoustic more calm guitar playing I love that as well. I am very aware on how challenging mastering guitar can be, that's why I will not only teach you but I will also motivate you to keep moving forward.
I focus in simple exercises and patterns so the student gets familiar not only with music theory but also with the mechanics of both left and right hands. I like to make these exercises based on music that my students like, for example if you love Metallica or AC/DC I will create an exercise based on one of their most popular songs. You are not much into rock music? That's ok let's do Eric Clapton instead or The Beatles. Doesn't matter if you are an experienced guitarist or a beginner, I am here to motivate you and to have fun, while learning at the same time.
