Overview:
I began began my musical career as an elementary school student selecting the flute as my primary instrument. I dedicated over four hours a day to practice and skill development. My time in high school led me to perform in several high profile venues which include: Orlando Theme Parks, halftime shows with Ronnie Millsap, and The Georgia Mass Choir. Additionally, I was invited to perform with several honor bands which include: Georgia All State Band, All District Band and All Region Marching Band. I also was luck enough to study under: Dr. Francis McBeth, Dr. Eric Erickson, and Dr. David Holsinger. I privately studied flute under Ms. Sarah Tuck co-principal flautist of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra for two years. My professional career began when I entered into the United States Marine Corps as a flautist. I was stationed at Cherry Point and Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Bands. I served as assistant section leader and then section leader for over five years. I also joined the 122nd Army National Guard Band after my tour of duty ended, where I currently serve today. During my 15-year professional career I've performed in over 3,000 performances and for over 2.5 million people, including 2 US Presidents and 2 foreign officials. I currently serve as the orchestra director for High Street Christian Academy and High Street Baptist Church. I'm seeking the opportunity to assist your student in developing musically.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching began in the late 1990's as professional musician in the United States Marine Corps teaching new Marine Musicians how to double & triple tongue and play minor scales as well as Greek Modes.I enjoyed the challenge of teaching someone a skill or technique. My reward is watching the lightbulb come on and them master the new skill.   I have played professionally for over 15 years and taught flautists during this time. I loe to have a un and laid back lesson that reinforces skill all while keeping the fun in the lesson.
METHODS USED
My lessons focus on trouble areas identified during the initial lesson. I would develop a plan of attack setting realistic goals that are both measureable, realistic and obtainable to achieve. A usual model lesson would consist of the following segments: 1. Intonation - I would spend about 5-10 minutes in this area training the student to properly find the center of pitch and listen for an adaptive center of pitch. Most flautists aren't playing in a symphony and will be exposed to an ever changing center of pitch.  2. Interpretation - I spend a chunk of time on this concurrently with other aspects to train the student to perform selections in a way that expresses passion, emotion and the idea of the selection.  3. Techniques - I work on techniques all throughout the lesson. Once I identify any discrepancies in their performance technique I will offer my suggestions but the student ultimately has to except them.
LESSON STYLE
I have a more laid back teaching style that is adapted to the student's personality and learning style. The last thing that any student wants is a stressful environment. Musical lessons should be challenging and have an element of fun as well. The student should leave the lesson wanting to come back to another lesson not feeling like they should put their instrument down and give up. I focus on the positives and give methods on how to overcome the negatives.  Ultimately, I want the student to go back to their organization and be able to correct discrepancies as a result of what they have learned.
