Toured with the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale
I am PASSIONATE about the piano and teaching other how to play! I toured with the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale for 5+ years, taught multiple music classes with Olivet Boys and Girls Club and the Reading, PA music foundation. I've performed at live events, and enjoy playing the piano daily. My love of music is something that I will never lose, and love to share with others. Not only do I enjoy playing the piano, but I also enjoy teaching others how to play. There's nothing better than seeing someone play a song on their own for the first time!
My teaching experience started with Olivet Boys and Girls club in college. There, I started teaching a choral group, glee club, private piano lessons, and group piano lessons. I did this for roughly ~5 years. I also taught lessons prior to this to beginner students throughout high school. I took private lessons from the age of 7 years old for about 13 years, and continue to practice and play daily (it's important to keep challenging yourself). I learned using classical style music, and pop/ mainstream music.
I believe in creating a custom lesson plan for my students. This is important for any age! Students (young and old) need to have something to work towards. I enjoy allowing student to pick what types of music they want to learn how to play and incorporating that music into their lesson plans. I will typically use a whiteboard to teach student how to read music and make the lesson interactive, and adjust the lesson to fit the learning level they are at. Each student will learn differently, and I recognize that and strive to tailor each lesson to the student!
The most rewarding thing to see is a student play their first full song and realize they did it with ease. My teaching style is why my students do well - it's because I tailor the lesson to each individual student. I want students to feel progress with each lesson. I truly never want to leave a lesson without seeing a student progress. My style is laid-back and incorporates multiple different tips that have proven effective in teaching new piano players. Learning to play shouldn't be boring, it should be fun... Of course there will be hard things to learn, but students should still enjoy these learning experiences.
I took lessons from Mr. William for a couple of years at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club in Reading, PA. Mr. William took the time to tailor lessons to songs that I loved to play which really helped with learning! It was always fun taking lessons and I truly enjoyed every minute of it - I play now and want to start up lessons again to get better at my craft! Thanks Mr. William this is truly a life long love of mine that I will always enjoy!!!
I loved taking lessons with William! He was super attentive to how I learned and encouraged me to bring songs that I enjoyed and wanted to play in order to teach.
